Hello Fractal Freaks!!! We’re frack again with episode 6 of our, now video-less, pod. We know you’ll miss seeing our beautiful faces, but you can take comfort in our amazingly sexy, sultry voices. In this ep we confront the fact that God, the universe, and the self are all one big fractal.
Then we honor that fractal by doing a Lynda Barry-based writing activity about windows and reading your window submissions. We discuss how our past, present, inner, and outer selves are always in fractal-like conversation with each other and we wrap up by assigning you a very special Dolly Parton Madlib! Could life get any fracking better?
Topics Discussed:
Jackie’s a workin' woman, Kaelin’s in grad school, and Olivia had mono!
Treating life like you’d treat Survivor
Trying to repair our relationship with men
Cat based witchcraft
Time traveling in our own lives
What we can learn from our child-selves about creativity and potions
Being lonely
Conversations between various selves
And of course: FRACTALS!!
Thank you for tuning in and please submit your responses to the Dolly Mad Libs activity on the Secret Superstar Society Patreon! Love you!
The Next Activity
🦋 Dolly Parton Mad Libs 🦋
This activity, which was assigned in Episode 6: Fractical Magic, is short n' sweet n' simple!
In honor of our beloved Dolly, we've turned her song 'My Tennessee Mountain Home' into a classic, old-school Mad Lib.
You know how it goes: fill in the blanks to make your own story/poem/song! As always, use your artistic license and take this in any direction you want -- funny, beautiful, sci-fi, spooky, absurd, etc.
We left in a few specific words here and there to throw you some curveballs, but in general, it's pretty wide open.
The goal is to take away the pressure of generating something out of nothing by giving you plenty of scaffolding and structure to play within.
Attached to the assignment post on Patreon are a PDF version of the Mad Lib, if you want to print it out and fill it in by hand (fun!), and a Word doc version, and we even pasted the text of it into the body of the post (at the bottom) if you just want to copy/paste it into your Notes app.
We can't wait to see what you come up with!
